The webcam is installed on top of the «Ruzzini Palace Hotel» building and allows viewers an up-close insight into the architectural features of the Church of Santa Maria Formosa, built in 1492 by the orders of Mauro Codussi. The convex cream at the apse and the grotesque mask found at the foot of the bell tower are some of the many Baroque details that adorn the Church. Home to several masterpieces of the Venetian school of painting, the most significant being the altarpiece “St. Barbara with the saints”, a work of Palma Il Vecchio considered one of his best. Another beloved artwork is the triptych of the “Madonna Misericordia” by Bartolomeo Vivarini – created in 1473 thanks to the contributions of the Church congregation.
