Coral City
Experience the magnificence of undersea living with the Coral City Camera, a live webcam showcasing the vibrant marine life of Miami, Florida. Located in around 10′ of water at the east end of PortMiami, it’s a majestic view that’s available to you to enjoy all day. This hybrid art-science research project, produced with Bridge Initiative and Bas Fisher Invitational, was made possible by funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. It offers a fish-eye view into the bustling urban reef and provides a platform to spark appreciation and protect this incredible ecosystem. Coral Morphologic, along with ACCRETE from NOAA and Rescue-a-Reef from the University of Miami, use the Coral City Camera as a research tool to sample and record water parameters, monitor a coral nursery and identify hardy genotypes of endangered corals. It is a unique opportunity to get an up-close glimpse into a real-life aquarium and observe the resilient creatures residing in our urban environments.
